I think most on your side of the isle make iraq out to be something different than what it really was under saddam. As brutal as he was, most went about there lives and were not affected by his rigime. Iraq had great schools, a decent economy, a good health care system, its people were educated and woman had plenty of rights. The people in charge over there now took a lot of those rights away. It will take longer to rebuild iraq than it ever would have in afghanistan. And there is a good chance we wont be very involved in the rebuilding process, once it really gets going.

Yes, afghanistan is less secular than iraq. All the better to transform that muslim nation into a muslim nation that reflects more on the century we are living in now, not centuries ago. Those were all good reasons to focus our interests in that country. Not to mention the taliban and al quida.
