Thought you, and others, might be interested in the view from one U.S. city - Detroit - regarding the current Nokia marketing push.

* A 5/8 page adv. by Voicestream featuring the Nokia 8290 held by the gorgeous Jamie lee Curtis. You get 500 free minutes plus 500 anytime minutes (with the phone that is) for $39.99/month.
* A 3/4 page adv. by AT&T featuring a large size picture of the 8260 (not quite as much sex appeal as Jamie). Introducing text messaging; a $50 mail-in rebate. Requires a one year contract. Various different minute plans.
* A 1/2 page adv. by Ameritech featuring a free 5120 when you donate $20 to the special olympics. Requires a two year contract; minimum of 100 local minutes for $19.95/month.

The only other adv. is for Nextel - about 1/8 page by circuit city for a pair of their phones for $69.99/month. One year contract; 400 shared minutes.

Nothing regarding Ericsson or Motorola phones except for the Nextel/Motorola connection.

All this can only have great potential for Q4. Anyone seeing similar patterns elsewhere in the U.S.?
