Trump on Friday night resurrected an old attack about Warren’s heritage and labeled her a “goofus” and a “basket case,” the Washington Post reported.
"Her whole career is a fraud because she goes out and she says she's a Native American,” Trump told supporters at a rally in Oregon. “She is a Native American, five percent. And therefore her whole career because she was a minority — it's a disgrace what's going on in our country.” Warren’s heritage became a controversy in her 2012 Senate bid, after reports emerged that she listed herself as a minority in a directory of law professors years earlier. Scott Brown, her opponent at the time, accused Warren of faking Native American ancestry for her own advantage. Some who’ve studied the situation believe Warren may have a Cherokee ancestor, but there are no primary documents proving it. Trump also said Democratic presidential candidate should pick Warren as her running mate. “I think that Hillary should run with goofy Elizabeth Warren,” he said. “I would love to beat them. “They're doing the whole, she plays her woman's card. ... It's the only card she has because honestly without that card she would get nobody voting for her.” Trump’s attacks in Oregon come amid an escalating fight on social media between the two. Warren slammed Trump in a multi-tweet attack Friday night, dismissing his “goofy Elizabeth Warren” nickname for her as “lame” and calling him “a bully who has a single play in his playbook -- offensive lies thrown at anyone who calls him out.”
