We hear this refrain, Tim, almost without exception. Any wrong the Republicans do must have been done, it's almost a matter of Republican faith, by the Democrats. So it's ok. Screw up the legislative process. But that's ok because it was done before. The argument has two flaws. The first is that much of the time, when the Democratic incidents which are invoked are investigated, they turn out to be quite different or not nearly so severe. My most recent for instances in this regard have been the various contentions that Clinton argued for presidential authority to do wiretapping. Turned out that wasn't the case. The second flaw is that even if the case could be made that the Dems did it, that certainly doesn't make it acceptable.
