I thought the Kennedy presidency put to rest the business of the Church running the country. I don't see how electing him was in any way a religious establishment. Now, I wouldn't want to see elected anyone who didn't have a firm sense of the difference between sacred and secular, but even then I don't see why that person would be disqualified from government funding.
