<An inflationary depression, the wet dream of gold bugs, is an extremely unlikely event. Even a dollar collapse will not trigger it in the US, since the US is practically self-sufficient in everything or can easily become so with relatively little effort. On the other hand, a plain old deflationary depression is becoming more likely -- although at this point it's still improbable. > IMO the fact that #2 is unlikely is wet dream to gold bugs.... it is clear, after all, that the government will do anything to reflate. I believe that the likelyhood of riding out a recession without pulling out all the stops or defense of the dollar are practically nil. DAK
