Michael,

Re - "Hi Mark, I thought you would enjoy this article, speech recognition gaining mementum.... "

Nice article!

I've never been classified as a visionary, so I don't have much to lose here, but will go out on a limb and venture to guess that this set of technologies is the next "Killer App" (hate buzz words) that will drive computer sales, justify ever great processor speed/power and the need for more memory.

From what little reading I have done in the area, I thought Dragon Systems had the leading software for this, but their sales and distribution seems to be very lacking. I can find IBM software locally, but I call the Dragon vendor and ask for a demo for home and work purposes, and they promptly forget about me. Some sales force.

Anyway, "voice" ability, internet content, faster modems, and more power "Intel inside" will be a great combination.

Those without the skills, access, and ability to use this technology will fall behind.

People continue to talk about the $1,000 PC and how it is sufficient for today, but that shows No Vision, or the ablity to run software like this, and other applications, that are around the corner.

Buying a computer for today's needs only, makes it obsolete, or less useful, that much quicker.
