Now is the time for SW engineers to improve their lot and move on for better pay, higher position, and/or better opportunities. It is a buyers market out there and it won't last forever so now is a good time to make a move. S3 with its improving fortunes and market share is in an excellent position to attract good engineers from its competitors. S3's gain is other graphics companies losses. Startup companies with their promises of stock options and possible fortunes are also sponging up a lot of the better talent out there. This shortage of talent is going to cause some companies to cut back on projects and to start slipping schedules.
