As to "identifying myself, my employer, and my occupation", it's none of your business. I will tell you that I don't work for a competitor and I don't work in the industry.
Good luck finding a legitimate opt-in e-mail company. If you try 100 of them, you will find one legitimate one and 99 liars.
Who the hell would check-off a box saying "yes, please fill my mailbox with spam!". (If we had an Internet truth-in-advertising law, that's what the box would have to say...) Very few people are dumb enough to participate in the few legitimate opt-in programs, and I'd wager that most who do live to regret it.
The only legitimate opt-in e-mail is that which you generate yourself through your leads - people who visit your website, etc. There are companies that will service that e-mail list for you, releaving you of the burden of mailing to your opt-in list. But make sure that THEY are legitimate - you don't want your customers being bombarded with e-mail from the competition, LOL!
You've made one very unwise and naive business decision. Personally, I wouldn't use you as a broker, because you're likely to make equally dumb business decisions in other areas. |
