Hawk...speaking of DNA...one of my portfolio companies is in the sequencing space. DNA sequencing is also similar to a razor and blades business model, with the reagents and other consumables being the blades and the sequencing machines being the (very large) razors. It has been a long and interesting journey, to be sure, but the good news is that they have made some very significant progress recently that I think may have the potential to transform the state of the art. Fingers are crossed...
