This is part of the problem. The financial press is full of wannabe creative writers, and the facts take a back seat. The writer here was in such a rush to make this ridiculous analogy he says "the company" should have known better than to think the early negotiations were a done deal, as if these extraordinary men at Q are of the same calibre as this guy's lunch table.
