Hi Richard,

Just for the record, I did/do not seek to "put away" anyone. In my past postings I have sought only to correct/complete statements that were to me very obviously inaccurate (or incomplete, or potentially misleading) technically. With RIK, I simply seek to understand the logic behind his opinion which is obviously so very different from my own. I have absolutely NO intention of participating in any insult slinging dual. If this thread degenerates to that, it will be without my further participation !

RE: "There had to be many meters of pay below the Leduc for Apache to have confidential status implemented."

I don't expect that the pay thickness will be very large. We really do not require a very thick section in the deep horizon to have a deep reserve of ~70 BCF/section.

RE: "It is my opinion that Apache dealing with 7 Canadian partners for a 17.5% interest at Strachan is more trouble than its worth. This can not jive with their corporate criteria. They are better off pursuing a 100% interest in another high impact play. Not to discredit a rumored 400 bcf discovery mind you, but for Apache 17.5% of this well will not have much of an impact on their share price."

Yep, 70 BCF ($50MM value) is important but it isn't the biggest thing that Apache has on its plate right now. A recent (weekend??) article in the Calgary Herald suggested that Apache have a $500+ MM war chest with which to do a Canadian acquisition by year end. Apparently, per that article, Apache will not consider a hostile takeover, it must be a friendly one. Undoubtedly, I will be considered to be "hyping" when I wonder out loud if that war chest could possibly have had anything to do with a series of poison pills that we saw earlier this year?

Later,
grayhairs

P.S.-- BTW, does the western sky look a bit pinkish yet ? I noticed earlier today that they'rrreee back !!!!!!!
