relative valuation is an idea that comes to mind. the wisdom or lack thereof associated with a share repurchase at this time has everything to do with (1) the current price of the shares, and (2) what you think the true value of the shares is. Ex post, IF the share price is at $75-100 in a year, a share repurchase will have shown some wisdom, don't you think?, particularly if R&D needs and capicity considerations are temporarily satisfied.
