I know you don't read much but you should check out "Day of Wrath" by William R. Forstchen. It is a novella, and you can read it easily in a couple hours.

It might give you some understanding of the threat ISIS poses against the United States. And give you some idea of the lives that could be taken in the space of a few hours by a few determined ISIS terrorists with less money and planning than the 9/11 hijackers had.
