Phillip--On its EPS conference call, PTNX management characterized its Pacific operation as a net benefit (they said none of PTNX's major competitors had production plants in Asia ex-Japan). They are shipping product from the Singapore plant to Europe. The overall flavor of the conference call was positive (instituting turn-around initiatives within its European dealer network, introduced significant new products in Oct. and Nov. of '97). Based on the conference call everything remains as largely on track for PTNX in relation to my original investment thesis (at least as largely as can be expected given the Asian crisis). When the market gravitates out of the "flight to quality" jumbo caps, it should take a harder look at PTNX.
