FYI - NEWS ALERT
from The Wall Street Journal

Aug. 31, 2008
The White House said President Bush is unlikely to attend the Republican convention on Monday as scheduled due to concerns about Hurricane Gustav. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said it is unlikely right now that Bush will go to Minnesota on Monday. She says alternate plans are being prepared. The news comes as McCain's campaign is considering curtailing parts of the convention, to avoid being seen as celebrating just as the storm slams into the U.S. Gulf Coast. The third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina has dredged up painful reminders for the Republicans. Saturday night, Mayor Ray Nagin ordered a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans.
