I heard the asset allocation thing too. But I think it had more to do with the beacon hill hedge fund. Following reaper on another thread, he points out that the fund had to be leveraged with a multiple 30 or 40:1. And that would require liquidating at least $12B worth of bonds. It may have just been a surge in the supply that knocked the bonds down rather than asset allocation.
