Grog, S3 and Diamond have had widely publicized problems providing reliable DirectX3 support using the Virge chipset. The problems encountered by Game Developer Magazine are by no means unique. The OEMs buy on price more than any other factor. Furthermore, I find it curious that you would claim that the testing was skewed to provide 3D Labs with some advantage when in fact 3DFX chipsets proved to be the best overall choice for 3D acceleration in the review.
