Friday, September 29 3:48 PM SGT JAKARTA, Sept 29 Asia Pulse - Next year will see Indonesia implementing the Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access [SCDMA] system, the most sophisticated technology in wireless telecommunications at present, an industrialist said.
Agung Laksono, president of PT Telekomunikasi Xinwei Selular [TelxSel], said his company will be the operator and sole distributor of the equipment of SCDMA developed by XinWei Telecom Technology Ltd of China after the signing of an agreement between the two companies Thursday.
Laksono said at least US$100 million would be needed in investment to implement the SCDMA technology including the cost of securing frequency permit.
The project could be wholly owned by foreign investors or in a joint venture with local partners, he said.
He said the Chinese investors would provide telecommunications equipment and managerial assistance.
