Alpha Bytes, Inc. Further Clarifies Relationship With
Microsoft Corp.; Updates H-NET Status

PR Newswire - August 03, 1998 08:46

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Alpha Bytes, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ABYT)
today released a statement updating the status of its on-line managed care and healthcare administration
service, H-NET(R), as well as clarified the strategic relationship with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:
MSFT).

The Microsoft Certification allows the Company to:

-- use the Microsoft name against Alpha Bytes' product line;
-- have access to Microsoft advertising, joint seminars and the
opportunity to join Microsoft in its booth at tradeshows;
-- utilize Microsoft consulting partners in virtually all aspects of the
Company's product development;
-- have its software embedded into SQL 7.0, Microsoft's latest database
management system that is expected to be released in October 1998; and
-- have access to Microsoft's systems labs for testing on Microsoft's
existing and to-be-released products.

Mr. Anton Stephens, President and CEO of Alpha Bytes, said, "We are working very closely with
Microsoft in the development of our H-NET(R) system. We plan to run two SQL 7.0 servers, which
can be written to simultaneously; one server will be for real-time transaction processing, while the other
server will be a virtual archive database. At the suggestion of Microsoft, this system will give us full
power to run high-speed and reliable on-line transactions."

Through H-NET(R), we will be providing both front-end and back-end solutions for healthcare
management. The front-end system will handle all benefit eligibility data and claims management, while
the back-end will provide an integrated management system for financial administration, such as billing.
We are very excited about the potential of this product and the credibility and worldwide exposure this
relationship can bring us."

Alpha Bytes, Inc. is a leading provider of specialized software for the vision care market with an
installed base of over 5750 sites, including such chains as Wal-Mart's Sam's Stores, LensCrafters, Cole
Vision, Pearle Vision, ECCA and many independent optical centers. The Company's H-NET(R)
system provides for continuous usage, including insurance benefit processing, and recurring revenues
that arise from the significant reduction of labor-intensive drafting and processing of paper forms.

Simultaneously, the Company is designing a modified version of the H-NET(R) product for one of the
world's largest financial services firms that will enable Internet access and transaction-based
functionality.
