Lucent Tech (LU) 18 1/16 -1 9/16 (-8%): Vtech Holdings files suit against Lucent alleging material misrepresentation of information related to the sale of its consumer telephone unit to Vtech.

Royal Caribbean (RCL) 26.51 -2.08 (-7.3%): CIBC World Markets downgrades to BUY from STRONG BUY, following stock's 40% advance since early Dec.
LM Ericsson (ERICY) 13 +1 1/4: -- Update -- Hearing from sources at Salomon Smith Barney that the firm believes that rumors of a deal in which Sony (SNE) acquires ERICY's handset division makes sense, and argues that an outright sale will be more positive than a joint venture as JVs often fail; Salomon advocates using strength as an opportunity to lighten up on ERICY as turnaround will take awhile to happen and there remain too many unanswered questions.
Market Action : Rotation out of tech into Big Board variety stocks progresses. Retailers and oil stocks the most obvious beneficiaries, as sectors climb to session highs while techs make new lows
