Sam,
I've followed this three post exchange between you and Don, and I have to express my disappointment that you seem to fail to respond to the excellent information that Don presented, and instead simply continue to express some half-considered prejudices as the basis for your world view.
The contrast is stark.
You seem to have adopted the "us vs. them" mentality that George Bush has conveniently used to befuddle the American public about his own Administration's guilt in association with 9/11. In this, I'm pretty much in agreement with Don's assessments. Bush certainly has lied to the American public about what was known about the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This is perfectly clear from the record of obstruction that Bush is engaged in when it comes to having an independent and democratic investigation into the events of 9/11.
Now, in a parallel move, we have Bush stonewalling any public, democratic investigation into the lies that were used to sell the Iraqi invasion and occupation.
Sam, do you consider yourself an American? Do you believe in the Constitution? Do you believe in the rights that we have enjoyed for a couple of hundred years here in America? If you do, then surely you must be upset that George Bush seems to be terribly anti-democratic, and anti-American. He's opposed to almost every virtue this nation was founded on. He's a secretive, totalitarian militarist who is hoping to destroy decades of social progress in this great nation. He coddles criminals such as Ken Lay and protects them from justice, because the bribes are too compelling. Furthermore, his every move seems designed to create more terrorists, not less. He seems to want to create war, conflict, hostility and fear. Is this the sort of leadership America needs today? I submit to you that Bush is on exactly the wrong course if the goal is to further American ideals and the spread of our good virtues.
Isn't this a cause for alarm to you? Isn't George Bush a much greater danger to you and your family's future than some agitated cave dweller half a world away?
