Garmin recalled their 250W because of batteries catching fire. I sent mine in to the UK center over a month ago and haven´t heard of it again. Also, updating these devices is a nightmare.

I now consider a sat nav to be a disposable item, to be purchased at the lowest possible price and then "donated" after a few years. A more generic device like a ipod touch might be a better choice.
