I was retracting the statement that JAVA MUST use a RTOS from WIND, MWAR, INTS etc.

I am trying to crawl through Techweb to get find out WHAT picojava can be used for etc. My jut feel is that they still need a micro kernal type RTOS, but they could be designing the picojava to be used as an add on to the main RTOS left to do I/O etc. If the new chip is to replace the RToS (with a sun product) companies WILL wait and see.

WIND have a massive following because theey support their products across multiple platforms, making it easy to move between platforms.
WIND clinets thinking of playing with JAVA will probably use java on the WIND RTOS first as they prototype.

While I'm still trying to grasp the med-long term impact I think this will draw more attention the the embedded market over the next 6 months which is a good thing.
