The Outdoor Channel Receives Flurry of Launches Via Digital
TEMECULA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1998--Management of The Outdoor Channel, a subsidiary of Global Outdoors Inc. (OTCBB:GLRS - news), today announced its availability to more than 644,000 customers via carriage on Headend in the Sky (''HITS''), a subsidiary of TCI's National Digital Television Center.
The launches were on select systems of Bresnan Communications, Buford Television, Falcon Cable, Frontiervision Partners, Galaxy Telecom, Intermedia Partners, Jones Intercable, Tele-Communications Inc. [Nasdaq:LBTYA - news], Triax Telecommunications and several smaller independent operators.
''This brings our total number of cable subscribers to approximately 2.2 million and affiliated systems to over 1,100,'' said Andy Dale, president and chief operating officer of The Outdoor Channel. ''We expect to reach 3 million cable subscribers by the end of this year.''
