Ray Dalio has written extensively about the changing world order and has quantified various factors. The end of long debt cycles is always the beginning of new global leadership. And when rising and waning powers collide, it rarely transitions peacefully.

That said, I loath to say it, but it may be different this time. The difference being that none of the great powers are in a position to assume the mantle of leadership. China has a ton of its own problems. EU and Japan have even worse debt to equity than the US. And the demographics all around is iffy to say the least. The US is actually the least dirty laundry in the mix.

The net results may be that rather than seeing a transition of power, we may have a chaotic multipolar world for decades.
