CERTICOM CORP - Security Technology to be Used in Leading Web Portal Software - Solutions from Citrix:

Toronto, Ontario, Sep. 12, 2000 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- Certicom, a leading provider of mobile e-commerce security, announced that Citrix Systems, Inc., a global leader in application server software and services has licensed Certicom's SSL Plus(TM) and WTLS Plus(TM) to provide advanced security in its family of leading application service software products. Specifically, Citrix(R) NFuse(TM) 1.5, an application portal product that enables Windows(R) and Unix(R) applications running on a Citrix MetaFrame(TM) software server farm to be "published" on a Web page, will use software code from Certicom for SSL encryption between the MetaFrame software server and the Web server.

"Citrix NFuse gives our customers the ability to offer applications and personalized information to users through a standard Web browser," said Bill Mangum, senior product manager, Citrix Systems. "Certicom's technology has helped us enhance the security of NFuse 1.5 by providing improved encryption and authentication between the MetaFrame server and the Web server."

Certicom's SSL Plus toolkit is the industry's most widely deployed commercial SSL product, due largely to its ease of use, rapid development time, and support for RSA, DSA/Diffie-Hellman, and elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) - the only SSL product with that capability. Certicom's industry-leading WTLS toolkit provides full strength, high-performance WTLS security, ideally suited for WAP implementations in wireless environments.

"Many of the world's most successful companies rely on Citrix application server software to deliver their e-business solutions," said Richard Depew, Certicom's executive vice president, field operations. "The addition of our trusted encryption technology provides an added security backbone for their leading application server software and paves the way for future innovative wireless offerings."
