Excellent analysis. I have recently adopted a belief based on hard knock realities that markets cannot be timed by people like us since there are so many analyst and brokerage houses that are quite skilled at moving stock prices.

You are playing roulette tring to guess from day to day where to buy or sell a stock like Intel. There are so many people who are emotionally affected by recommendations and calls from brokerage houses. I bought Intel in early 1995 and while the brilliant graduates from Wharton with their fancy MBA's were saying to everyone, "sell lntel", I bought more. Let's face it- the business of Investment companies is to make commissions on the buying and selling of securities. Stock brokers will not keep their jobs if they do not first make money for the investment firm they are working for. I am sure they would like you to be happy with their recommendations but the first priority must be to create revenu for their brokerage houses.

I have found that over the long term you you make pennies by trading actively and trying to time the market, you may even loose your shirt. Standing firm over the long term riding out the bumps you realize large dollar profits. Why throw away all those unecessary commisions? Buy only the big guns Intel, Microsoft, Oracle,Cisco Coke, Gillette etc. With investments like these all you have to do is sit back and relax .
