"40 in two quarters?! Damn conservatives," Mr. K muttered as he shuffled out of the pew in the direction of the confessional, narrowly missing the church mouse hiding behind the kneeling pad. The old man reached into his worsted wool coat pocket and removed the envelope that he'd placed there prior to leaving his house. Tearing gingerly, he broke the sealed flap and removed the 4 one-thousand dollar bills that were intended for the collection plate. Glancing up at the rainbow glare filtering through the stained glass window, he offered, "Sorry, Big Guy. Gotta hot prospect that ain't gonna quit any time soon, so this'll have to wait." He started to walk out but hesitated, retracing his gaze to the window. "Don't worry, I won't forget Your cut. And thank the Monk for me, even if he ain't one of Yours." With a wink and a nod, he departed the chapel... Mr. K the Story Teller
