I know a bunch of GOOG employees also. They are very tight lipped on their financials and will be fired if they disclose anything so they don't. However, I can't help but try to read their enthusiasm towards the company whenever I see them. Let me tell you what my interpretation of them in the past was.

- Last June quarter: employees ECSTATIC, everyone giddy- buzz was the "mother of all blowouts" coming.
Reality: GOOG missed.

- Last Sept quarter: Absolutely NO news, no idea what was coming, employees seemed like things were status quo.
Reality: GOOG blew out.

- December quarter- I didn't see anybody, so I don't know.

- This quarter: again no reaction. Some sense that revenues are clocking in high after December disappointment. But nothing to get excited about.
Reality? not sure.

nobody is panicking over there as you imply and one thing is for certain, if they were panicking they would never have presented the analyst day the way they did.
