This is already done with OEM collaboration. What more would you think is necessary? Joe suggested shipping limited samples to enthusiasts. How would AMD make that work? Put an ad in the Sunnyvale paper? Put a sign up sheet on the AMD web page? Or simply ship a couple thousand parts to the channel with a "Buy at your own risk" sticker attached, as well as instructions on how to help AMD debug their faulty product? That would do wonders for AMD's reputation as a two-bit CPU provider.
