I sold my SUNW today (Dec 30) at $28.25
Why?
1. I hate to lose money. I bought at $28 (a few months ago)

2. I have to many unanswered questions:
- how much will Microsoft NT cut into SUNW growth? e.g. MSFT's recent strategic alliance with DEC. More and more, there are more cost efficient solutions than the expensive Sun workstation. I could go on and on and list many more examples, but I'm sure the extent of my concern is apparent.
- when will Java contribute (directly or indirectly) to SUNW's earnings? See Byte magazine, Nov. 96 article "Sun Gambles on Java Chips" available on www.byte.com. Quote "Sun's strategy is compelling, but not air tight. We are watching the opening volley of a technical war that may take months or even years to resolve. ... many questions will remain unanswered."
This kinda summarizes allot of what I've been reading in the last few weeks.

I also see a very definite shift in the computer industry from direct sales to VAR sales.
Here again MSFT's Marketing Machine has been very successful at winning the hearts and minds of VARS. This shift is the direct result if IT outsourcing. Heck, even MSFToutsource's it's computer hardware requirements.

Any body got any definitive answers? In the meantime I'll watch from the sidelines.
If I am going to gamble, there are other interesting fish to fry.
Today I bought T- DXX at 13.10 and V-EDI at .43. I did say GAMBLE, did't I?
We'll see????

Happy New Year and good luck to all!

Bob

PS. Sorry for the delay in posting this. I had difficulty posting.
Seems one has to save file in ".txt" format when using Word 7, then cut and paste from there.
