I really don't know if its 'likely' or not. All I know is it happens on my Windows 7 desktop enough that Computer Management (used to reassign letters identifying external drives) is on my Start Menu flyout. It doesn't seem to me to be likely that its only happened once on your machine. I use 'Karen's Replicator' for data backups and KR requires a consistently lettered external drive so I have to pay attention to what letter Windows assigns when I attach an external drive. I consider it a truism that the wonderful world of Windows can be quite confusing. I believe that's one reason this board and numerous internet forums like it exist.
