Richard,

Since they are only going 20', I would think trenching would be very beneficial. Not only could they get good samples for assays, they could also map a cross-section of one of the paleo channels. The could use one of their dozers to do the trench. All they would need for COC is just to hire a contractor and a geologist to dig and sample.
