LISTnet Top Twenty Techies Award Acknowledges the Accomplishments of FalconStor's Prakash Babu and the VTL Engineering Team
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 2005--FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced further industry recognition for its VirtualTape Library (VTL) technology, with the Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet) selecting Prakash Babu, FalconStor vice president of Data Protection, as among the top 20 area executives furthering IT technology. LISTnet's Top Twenty Techies is the latest industry accolade awarded to FalconStor's VTL, as it acknowledges Babu's leadership and efforts for the product direction and development of VTL over the past year. FalconStor's VTL solution continues to attract first-tier original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as its utilizes industry standard disk to emulate industry standard tape libraries, and transfers data to and restores it from a disk-based virtual tape at ultra high speeds over IP SAN or Fibre Channel.
Babu and FalconStor's dedicated team of engineers and developers have continued to keep VTL leading-edge, with recent product enhancements and services, including data encryption, allowing VTL customers to encrypt data when exporting to physical tapes to guard data against unauthorized access and information theft; tape library caching, providing users with the ability to migrate data from disk to tapes based on user-defined policies, while providing transparent access to data regardless of the location; and continuous disk backup, for user initiated backup and file/system recovery, to achieve both recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) in a continuous data protection strategy.
FalconStor's ongoing interoperability testing with leading hardware and software solutions ensures seamless integration of VTL into an existing IT environment, while optimizing the overall performance and functionality of VTL and other technologies used by FalconStor customers today. Recent efforts over the last year have resulted in support for Sun's StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS); IBM 3583 Library and 3580 drives for IBM iSeries; SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8.0, and Sun Solaris 10 Operating System.
