Gary: This is another reason why Beasley calling a special session on video poker is unlikely. The following is from The State article:

"The anti-Beasley voters are said to be a mixture of Confederate-flag supporters, video-poker enthusiasts and backers of a state-run lottery. Beasley tried unsuccessfully to remove the banner from the State House dome and opposes video poker and a lottery."

I doubt if Beasley is foolish enough to compound the error he made by trying to force a losing issue in the regular session by pushing it again in a special session. He lost the issue and he apparently lost votes in the process. If his motivation for video poker bashing is re-election posturing, as I have suspected for a long time, this primary vote suggests he is barking up the wrong tree and, therefore, he is more likely to back away quietly from the issue.
