Ever do the Blue Hole? bluedive.com I don't scuba but my son and his wife appeared to enjoy it as I remember. Your story of the drift dive reminds me of tubing down a slow moving river in a jungly area of Belize (mainland) and the river went right through a mountain. It was eerie and yet amazing. I had visions of sumptin comin up and bitin my a*s in the interior. Half way through the mountan a large portal in the mountain opened up to the local luscious jungle as we floated by and it was so beautiful as to be surreal.
