Addi,

>>As far as replacing work station goes, have no fear. Sun will still
have the largest pie of all. The only real compettitor is HP. Its
like Coke and Pepsi. In this case Sun is the Coke and HP is the Pepsi!
And sure there will be mountain dews, and sprit and 7UP, etc. But
the real thing is still Coke and everyone else is basically
irrelevant!<<

But don't you agree that the wintel platform was never a threat before until the higher speed pentiums??
My point is that there is now a real alternative for unix work stations from wintel which was never there before. As to Sun v. HP, I think SUN will do well agaist HP, if the cusomers choose to go with unix.

<<As for Java, the software does not make any money for Sun yet! It does
benefit the hardware side of the business. Java Beans is a superb
technology that>>

You can also argue that this will be a benefit for the faster wintel platform.... you can now run engineering/financial software written with Java using wintel. Who needs unix?

I would like to be convinced otherwise, again because the stock is cheap based on the numbers. But I have not hear any convincing story addressing why the faster wintel platform is not a threat to sun. Does sun have better speed, price/performance, special applications, etc.? Please tell me why.
