If some CDs work properly and some do not it's more than likely a scratch on the CD causing the problem. You can try to clean the CD in case it's only fingerprints or dust by using a soft, lint free cloth and wiping from the center outward - NOT around the disk but across it.

Some of those driver updates could improve your laptop's operation (particularly the VGA driver, the motherboard chipset driver, the wireless and LAN drivers and the USB driver) but if you are not experiencing any issues (other than the CD's) then there is no reason to install the drivers. Some of the driver updates repair bugs, add features, increase performance and sometimes even improve security.
