Yes you are right. Japn has become incredibly competitive, leading one to say the 'news of its death was premature'. the fact that they are in the game with wages much higher than ours, no natural resources at all, and a strong currency leads me to beleive they have their act together in certain key respects (and of course are failing miserably in others.) I agree the strong currency route makes sense, hence I doubt that is how it will play out. I suspect they will see it weaken, at least for a time, as the banks their start to feel the pinch of sub 14 K Nikkei...
