The only real surprise is that Ted Kennedy turned him down... I'm not surprised. The whole thing is more about politics than about taking care of sick people. It still is so, even today. Why would Kennedy alow Nixon to steal his favorite thunder? Universal coverage is not enough -- it also MUST come from the "correct" side of the isle.
