Meanwhile- U.S. stocks end quarter with worst losses since 2002

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock indexes climbed Monday, with financials
leading the way on Citigroup Inc.'s restructuring effort and the proposed
consolidation of U.S. regulators, but the market still tallied its steepest
quarterly decline in more than five years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
gained 46.49 points to end at 12,262.89, leaving it with a quarterly loss of
7.6%. The S&P 500 gained 7.48 points to 1,322.70, a 9.9% decline for the quarter,
while the Nasdaq Composite gained 17.92 points to 2,279.10, off 14.1% for the
first quarter.
