I think its something of a distortion to say check cashers are vampires. Some people need their service and 40% interest for a short time (while not smart for people who have better choices) isn't necessarily all that bad, even if its horrible for any length of time. If anybody wants to help the poor, they ought to go after predatory lenders. That might be counterproductive depending on how you define predatory. reason.com reason.com
