It would have nothing to do with the adapter. The keyboard must be getting voltage (and some current) from the motherboard, therefore the system is not "shutdown" totally. Want proof? Unplug the computer and wait about 30 seconds or more (for the capacitors in the power supply and on the motherboard to discharge) and see if the LED is still lit.
