It's good to know that some of these credit-card-size devices are good. Do you carry yours in your wallet, Bridge Player?

I phoned IB today and asked if other customers were having the same problem with black spots. I was told that some customers experienced this problem, but it doesn't seem to be a massively widespread problem. So maybe I was just unlucky, with two bad ones in a row.

I asked if they have anything else that I can use instead. They offered to send me a pocket-size printed list of codes. Non-electronic. That's what I'll take. I'll be limited in the amount of cash that I can withdraw each day, and I'll be missing the protection of the PIN number, but at least it will be reliable.
