ted,

1. Why is Dell sticking with a supplier that screwed them?

2. Why is it that a couple days after that article, Dell gave guidance that revenue would slow to
around 30% this year?

3. Why did Dell, suffering through an apparent chip shortage, not contact AMD and try to buy some
of AMD's surplus chips? What competent company would not make every effort to prevent a loss of
business?

Good questions Ted, and a lot of guesses floating around.

Anything I could add would be wags.

1) DELL stayed with Intel thru the Rambus/820 fiasco. That is why I believe they will never sell anything other than Intel. Who will uncover "their" agreements?

2) DELL has missed two quarters in a row, they need to reduce expectations. (ala Microsoft guidance)

3) I agree with Bill, wouldn't took any effort on DELL's part to grab a bunch of mobos and Athlons and ship some Athlon 800 systems.

Intel said they would have DELL's coppermine problems fixed before the end of Q1.
I think DELL will announce another shortfall for Q1.
Three in a row. Go Jimbo.
