emails I've received. People needing your prayers and hope:

My Dear Mike,

They found his Captain's hat so far. We are finding comfort that if Allen had to go, he would have only wanted it in a way protecting innocent people and his country. We have not given up hope. I personally found your e-mail response comforting.

Thank you,

I want to pray for those people today.
Two people I know work at the World Trade Center. One works on the 40th floor and did not go to work today, and the other was just about to enter the building, and the plane crashed into the first building; She thought a bomb went off, and all the glasses were falling from the sky. People on the street were shaking, and some can not even move, they were crying and just hiding under or next to cars and trucks She felt as if there is a war going on. She started to run, and she was afraid that another building may collapse on her. She said to herself if she gets buried by another building it will just be tough luck. As she was running, people were running up to her and asking ;her why she was running She ran all the way from the financial center to China Town;and took the subway home to midtown When she got home she could not find her mother. She decided to go out again and look for her mom. She said that the ;first airliner put a hole through the entire 80th floor, and people above the 80th floor ;can not come down, and the deadly ;gas and the fire were causing people to either choke to ;death or burn to death, and as a result people had to jump off the building

My friend that did not go to work ;is really angry with what had happened; He said the 2nd plane crashed into the 50th floor of the 2nd building where he would have worked He kept on telling me that there is really a lot of people working in the office building.... a lot of people Again, anyone above the 50th floor may be trapped, and as the building collapses, they may not have a chance to survive

Please ;pray for the well being of all those people and their families.

I was a Reserve Marine when Saddam Hussein attacked in '90. Activated, I
participated in Desert Shield and Storm. My unit fired artillery and hit
military targets trained at Coalition Forces or re-grouping against Coalition
Directives. Luckily, we never had to fire our personal weapons at any human
targets that we could actually see. However, there were some units that did
have to do so. They performed superbly and honorably.

In those days we had ralleyed in order to defend others who were suffering,
and our shots were fired in anger. Today, we see the results of a heinous
act against our own people, and the tendancy for many will be to fire at
others out of HATE.

Certainly, we must pursue and punish the guilty: those responsible and those
who offer support and solace for the responsible. But we must also keep a
clear head and realize that HATE can lead to rash and irresponsible decisions
which acted upon, with time, may return more grief than justice.

Anger IS a positive emotion that can fuel appropriate and decisive
counter-action. As Americans, we must continue to present the example to the
world of what is a free and responsible society. We do HATE the actions
taken against us; We do HATE the individuals who perpetrated, conducted, and
supported these events. However, we must not allow our HATE of the guilty to
turn into HATE for other people who are innocent, but unfortunately, live in
and near the areas of terrorism support. This is extremely difficult.

We must limit our Hate to the acts and the guilty, tempered so as not to
unnecessarily provoke further violence. But we must responsibly harness our
Anger to produce actions which cause appropriate results and Justice.

I work down in the Wall St. area and was there that frightful day when the
cowardly terrorists attacked an unaware and unarmed american workforce. I t
was mayhem and pandomonium in the streets. Luckily all of my coworkers were
not harmed. Unfortunately, working in the Wall St. area for as long as I
have there is definitely colleagues and friends that I know were affected by
this most horrific of tragedies. My thoughts and prayers go out to the
families and friends of the victims.

FYI -

I found this site, and made a donation:

(if every household in the U.S. contributed only $25, the amount would be
approx. $2.7 billion.

I'm sure some will contribute more, but still ...

I am always amazed at how tragedy gets this country united. Another suggestion to show this unity.

I live in Spain in a region called Galicia ( North West). I heard the news when back from work and I couldn't belive it. Back in home I spent the whole afternoon watching TV images of the events like a zombie, still not beliving it.
I wish I could help more, at least donating blood to the wounded, but what I can offer is just a few words of condolence and my sharing of your pain. I apologize for answering to you, people, who i heven't met in my life. I just feel I had to write it and let you know the attack against you is against me also, and I share with you the feelings of horror and shock.

My sentiment to those who had a relative, friend or beloved involved.

Francisco
What we have seen on September 11th, with the terrorist attacks upon the United States, has been unprecedented. Many people are in a state of shock about what has happened. Thousands across the nation saw the events unfold as they were happening. Seeing the plane fly into one of the towers and then the two towers falling seemed as something that came out of the movies. It just could not be real. Sadly, it is real.
There are those who know the reality. They are the ones who were there. They are the ones who are still there. They are the ones who have lost a loved one who was there, a husband or wife, a son or daughter, a brother or sister, a relative of some sort, or a friend. They are the ones who are fighting heroically to save lives and sacrificing their own lives for that end. These are the ones who have borne the physical and psychological brunt of the attack. These are the ones who have to deal with the immediate reality and consequences of what others have chosen to do.
Many are watching struck with horror at what has been playing across our televisions. We are powerless to do anything about it. We are fearful that this will become the status quo. We want to strike back, regain control and make sure it will never happen again. We want justice and we want revenge. We too are dealing with the psychological wounds that this event has caused.
We will talk about the wounds, the very real physical and emotional wounds that in some way we have all suffered. We will all remember where we were on September 11th, 2001. It will be a scar that lasts for all our lives. But that will not be the only thing we will remember.
The terrorist attack by Timothy McViegh reminded the nation about our character. Out of the horror of that day, heroes rose up, people gave of what they had and more. People from around the country responded with compassion and hope. And so too will we as a nation reach out to those who have been so horribly hurt, hurt physically, hurt with the loss of a loved one, hurt with the wounds that they will carry with them forever.
And we may connect with the generation that fought WWII. In their hour, much more desperate than ours, they rose to the occasion and defeated not one, but two world powers. Their strength of character took a tragedy and turned it into a triumph. When that generation returned from war, the built the nation that we live in today. Then when all is here said and done, like Winston Churchill stated of his nation, Great Britain, we may say of ours, it will be our finest hour. We will have risen to the occasion, to fight the fight we must and overcome.
And so on this day people have risen to the occasion. As heroes rose in Oklahoma, as they rose in WWII so again heroes have done the same. September 11th will be the day of the hero. So out of all the horror we learn that the people of America really do care about one another. And in it all we bond closer together. We see what is really important to us. One another.
In all of this, will the price of gas rise? Already has. But what is important? First things first, not the price of gas, but one another. We will sacrifice of our comforts for a while maybe, but like those who have gone before us, like our fathers and mothers who set such good examples before we will do the same.
In a world where we are so concerned about the economy and the stock market something comes our way and knocks us down. Some are knocked down for good but for the rest of us, it is for us to get back up and put the pieces back together. The pieces have not yet all settled though. But as heroes we begin now. And as heroes we realize what is truly important, those we care about, those people we even pass as strangers on the street--in the end, what we care about are others, regardless of who they might be.
This is what makes us heroes. Not that we have a good economy. Not that we have the finest and greatest halls of knowledge, but that we reach out and care for one another. We are heroes because we willingly sacrifice for the well-being of others. You have been called in some way on this day to be a hero, by caring for those hurt in whatever way you can.
And when the dust settles, when we know who is to blame and we have gotten our justice, we will have made what sense we can out of it all. We will wish that we would never have had to struggle with all of this. If only this hour had passed us unscathed then thousands would still be here and thousands of homes would still be intact. That would be by far better.
But their deaths will not be in complete vain. While terrorist would want us to live in fear of what they will do next we instead will live otherwise. We will remind the terrorists why we do not hide and why they do. We will know that those who died on this day would be proud of us for the character that we have shown when the push came to shove. If only they could tell us.
Some did as they called loved ones on cell phones. On the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania, there were those on board who when faced with their own deaths, acted with heroism. Maybe you have seen both the sorrow and yet the pride in Mark Bingham’s mother as she recounted their last conversation . Heroism began early on that day and we have yet to see it’s end.
They can not tell us now that they are proud of us but that does not make it any less real. Having risen to the occasion, showing the heroic character that has always made up those that live in the United States of America, we will know that we have lived up to our fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers. We will have lived up to the standards that heroes have always lived up to. We will be the better for it because when the challenge came our way, we did not shirk from it. We did not hide. We rose up to the occasion and showed what we were made of.
So rise up America. Show the character that makes a people great. Walk with hope and excitement about the future. Show that those who act in such ways will not defeat us. Show them the cowards they are. We will walk boldly in the day light while they hide in the shadows of night and when the light of our liberty shines brightly into their darkness they will not be any place for them to call safe.
And may in all this, we show not only our pride in our nation, but our humility towards God almighty, who himself gave of his life, sacrificing himself for the many, so that we all would have a more abundant, joyful and eternal life.
I am reminded by my cause in Christ, that the repentance of those responsible, the acceptance of Jesus Christ on their part, is more important than my vengeance, than our nations vengeance. But I know this, they have made an enemy with a powerful people who will not be overcome by hardship but instead will give in their service and sacrifice all they have to be victorious. This was the case when Pearl Harbor was attacked so it is still the case today.
We are then honored when we are given the opportunity to rise to the occasion. We stand with those who have gone on passed us. We stand with those who have already shown their mettle. We stand as heroes with heroes. God Bless America - Brady
