Birim Announces New Gold Discovery on Tombe-Parabu, Ghana
11/3/03

MONTREAL, CANADA, Nov 3, 2003 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) --
Birim Goldfields Inc. (BGI: TSX) ('Birim'or 'the Company') is pleased to announce the discovery of a significant gold zone on the Tombe-Parabu prospect located within its 90%-owned Bui District properties in west-central Ghana.

The most northerly re
verse circulation drill hole (CTR-127), for which results have now been received, returned two prominent intersections of gold mineralization: 17 metres grading 4.47 grams per tonne gold, commencing 22 metres downhole, followed by an additional 11 metres grading 2.90 grams per tonne gold starting at 47 metres downhole. The hole ended at 64 metres. Drill hole CTR-127, drilled on line 27,100 N is new and approximately 800 metres north of the 2000 drill program. This new zone is open along strike to the north and at depth.

The mineralization at Tombe is clearly structurally controlled and related to steep-to-moderately dipping quartz veins and their associated albitised/pyritised and occasionally silicified alteration haloes. The presence of carbonate, manganese oxides and chert-rich pods are also commonplace.

The ongoing drill program at Tombe-Parabu, comprised of 85, sixty-metre deep reverse circulation drill holes, along with 3,600 metres of trenching, is designed to follow up on the results of a drill program completed by Birim in 2000 during which encouraging, wide-spread, gold mineralization was encountered. The 2000 drill program focused on a 500-metre section of the 12 kilometre long Tombe-Parabu gold-in-soil anomaly trend situated between lines 25,800 N and 26,300 N.

Two-to-three kilogram samples collected for each metre drilled (under the supervision of RSG Global Pty Ltd., Australia) were submitted as four-metre composite samples and then sent to Transworld Laboratories in Tarkwa, Ghana for assaying. If samples returned assays above a nominal 0.15 gram per tonne gold threshold, then the one-metre samples were assayed. Results for holes CTR-102 to CTR-125 are reported for the four metre composite samples only with one-metre re-split sample assays pending. Results for holes CTR-082 to CTR-101 and CTR-126 and CTR-127 are reported as one-metre results. Richard Hyde (BSc, MAIG), Manager for RSG Global in West Africa and a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101, supervised and directed all work associated with the RC drill program.

To date, results have been received for the first 46 holes of the program (CTR082 to CTR127). Significant results are summarized in Table 1

As a result of the encouraging results received to date, it is the intention of Birim to significantly expand the current reverse circulation drill program to at least 110 holes (6,600 metres) in total for the 2003 campaign. Further drill results are expected within the next 3-4 weeks.
