Energyplay, that was a very thoughful response!

I particularly liked this part : " The current effort to design a new, more reliable nuclear weapon to replace most of the types of weapons in the US inventory also represents a longer term threat, since more reliable nuclear forces lend themselves to a reduction in warhead numbers, and more material that could be converted for power reactors."

I had read about the above efforts myself and had concluded that this could lead to a release of highly enriched material in the future, although I think we are talking about at least five years before this could happen since the efforts in question still have to get congressional approval to proceed. Also, once started, it would be a gradual process. Having said this, this is something we need to keep our eyes on, IMO....
