Considering we're experiencing a world wide recession, and competition in the 3G handsets market is fierce, I'm not at all surprised that chip prices have fallen.

Prices are also falling in most all other sectors. Qualcomm must streamline it's operations if it wishes to remain competitive and profitable.

All in all, the decline in chip pricing is a bit concerning, but if the pricing pressure persists, we wouldn't be surprised to see Qualcomm streamline its operating expenses in order to maintain healthy operating income from this business.
